Thrust Roller Bearing

The thrust roller and taper roller bearing installation is indeed a complicated process that needs assistance of the experts. A tapper roller nearing comprise on inner ring race way, tapered rollers as well as outer ring raceway. It comprise of both radial as well as axial loads. It is usually used in various type of transmissions, be it heavy duty machinery or vehicles.

Various Types of Taper Lock Bearing Design

There are 3 different categories of taper lock bearing design available. The three of them are explained in a brief manner as below; you can have a quick look and understand each of them.

Single Row Tapered Roller Bearing:

These are the basic type of roller bearings and it is available in various sizes. These bearings have matched bearings having a flanged outer ring.

Double Row Tapered Roller Bearing:

This type of double row tapper roller bearing can easily handle massive loads. In fact, it is stiff enough to handle all sorts of issues and also to use in rolling mills, machines and gearboxes in the mining industry.

Four Row Tapered Roller Bearing:

These categories of bearings are widely used within the rolling mill. These bearings are designed to handle maximum radial and axial loads.

Steps Involved In Thrust Roller Bearing

The very first step that is involved in the installation process of thrust roller bearing is installing cup into wheel bore. These cups should be placed correctly within the bore. Even the cup’s taper should also be placed in suitable orientation. And the very next step is to install the cone within the cup. Upon installing the some, then the flinger washer should be thoroughly installed. It should be installed over the top portion of the cone and then closure is installed. It fits perfectly over the flinger washer. The closure should be completely fit surrounding the cup and the flinger washer. Next step is, repeat the same process on either side.

Now, it’s the time to install wheels. Make sure that the wheel gets perfectly fit into the caster. The spacer should be placed in midst between the caster leg and closure on either sides. Now, the axle slides through the caster legs and the wheel assembly. That’s the reason why castle nut is installed. Tightening the castle nut is equally important as it stops the wheel from spinning. Make use of the lubricants like grease for bearings lubrication.
