Ingredients for Matar Paneer:
  • Chopped into cubes paneer - 250 gm
  • Large minced onion - two 
  • Ginger paste - one tsp
  • Cumin powder - one tsp
  • Coriander powder - one tbsp
  • Powdered turmeric - 1/2 tsp 
  • Tomato puree - one tbsp 
  • Refined oil - two tbsp
  • Garam masala powder - one tsp
  • Peas - one cup
  • Small pureed tomato - three
  • Garlic paste - one tsp 
  • Mace powder - one pinch
  • Red chilli powder - one tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - one pinch
  • Water - one cup
For Garnishing:

Chopped coriander leaves - one handful

How to prepare Matar Paneer:

Step 1) Heat the oil into a fry vessel. Add the jeera sabut, hing, mace powder, green chilies and minced onions. Saute the vegetables & cook until it becomes pinkish in colour. Have garlic-ginger paste & saute again for about two to three mins. If you want the smoky flavour of garlic, then stir fry it for some more time & have fresh tomato puree.

Step 2) Stir finely & add in the dry masalas apart from the garam masala & salt as per taste. Now mix & saute until the sides begin separating from this oil. Now add in paneer and peas. Combine it smoothly & pour water. Adjust the salt and spices for taste. If you like to prepare the gravy aromatic, have the garam masala into the last step of making the recipe. Place the lid & allow it to cook.

Step 3) When the gravy begins boiling, have fresh cream. And, accentuate the taste of the dish by having some garam-masala & stir properly. Garnish the paneer dish using fresh coriander leaves, & enjoy it hot with Chapati, Butter tandoori roti, Naan, Veg pulao and Jeera rice.
